Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 3, 2026

AR5 Labs ("we", "us", "our") operates PlotStudio AI, a desktop application for agentic data analytics. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

We take your privacy seriously. PlotStudio is a desktop-first application — your data files stay on your local machine. We do not store, access, or sell your analytical data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a PlotStudio account, we collect your name and email address for account management and customer support. We do not collect or store billing information — all payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe.

Usage Analytics

We collect anonymized usage metrics (feature usage, session duration, error reports) to improve the product. This data does not include your datasets, queries, or analysis results.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details on our servers. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.

2. How AI Queries Are Handled

PlotStudio offers two modes for powering AI analysis. How your query data is handled depends on which mode you choose:

Managed Credits

When you use Managed Credits, your AI queries are routed through our infrastructure (via Helicone, our API gateway) to OpenAI. This means:

  • Your queries and relevant data context pass through our gateway for billing, monitoring, and quality assurance
  • We may log query metadata (timestamps, token counts, error rates) for service reliability
  • We do not use your queries or data to train any AI models
  • We do not sell or share your query data with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the service
  • Helicone acts as a processing intermediary — see Helicone's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling practices

BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)

When you use BYOK mode, your AI queries go directly from your machine to OpenAI with no intermediary. This means:

  • PlotStudio and our infrastructure never see your queries, data context, or AI responses
  • Your API key is stored locally on your machine and is never transmitted to our servers
  • OpenAI's own privacy policy applies — OpenAI states that API data is not used to train their models
  • This mode provides the highest level of privacy and is recommended for sensitive data

For more details on OpenAI's data handling, see OpenAI Security & Privacy.

3. Your Data Files

The datasets you upload to PlotStudio (CSV, Parquet, etc.) are processed entirely on your local machine. We do not upload, store, or have access to your data files. All analysis — including AI-generated code execution — runs locally on your desktop.

4. Cookies & Tracking

Our website (plotstudio.ai) uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We may use analytics services (such as Google Analytics or Vercel Analytics) to understand website traffic. The desktop application does not use cookies or web tracking.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI — AI model provider for analysis (Managed Credits and BYOK)
  • Helicone — API gateway for Managed Credits billing and monitoring
  • Stripe — Payment processing
  • Clerk — Authentication and account management

Each service processes data according to their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

6. Data Retention

Account information is retained for the duration of your subscription and for a reasonable period after cancellation for legal and accounting purposes. Usage analytics are retained in anonymized form. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

These rights apply under GDPR (EU/EEA), CCPA/CPRA (California), and other applicable privacy laws.

8. Children's Privacy

PlotStudio is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice in the application. Continued use of PlotStudio after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us at our contact page or email us at plotstudio@ar5labs.com.
